Sleep apnea is a common condition that occurs when your breathing stops and restarts many times while you sleep. This can prevent your body from getting enough oxygen.
What causes sleep apnea?
particularly obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), is primarily caused by a physical blockage in the upper airway during sleep. This blockage can be due to various factors, including obesity, enlarged tonsils, a small jaw, or other anatomical structures. Central sleep apnea, on the other hand, results from the brain not sending proper signals to the muscles that control breathing.

What If it remains untreated?
Untreated apnea prevents you from getting enough rest, which can cause problems with concentrating, remembering things, making decisions, or controlling your behavior. It affects many parts of your body. It can cause low oxygen levels during sleep and prevent you from getting enough sound or quality sleep.
It can be treated, although a cure is not possible in many cases. Surgical treatment in children (whose bodies are still growing) often delivers positive results. Because adults live with permanent airway anatomy, the changes caused by sleep apnea require other therapies and interventions.
What I did to fix it?
I designed and developed a low-cost APAP system to assist individuals with sleep apnea. Integrated pressure and flow sensors with a motor controlled via Arduino to dynamically adjust air pressure based on real-time breathing patterns. Focused on closed-loop feedback, sensor calibration, and user comfort.
As part of the project, I have also developed a device to help with the condition.
Follow my Instagram page to know more about this disorder and its proposed care with the help of assistive device where I also shared all details. It will really encourage me more. I’m also launching the dedicated website for it. Thank you for your support.
